FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you re-sell pre-made covers?
No. Each pre-made cover is sold once, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Can you hold a pre-made cover until I’m ready to purchase?
No. I’m unable to reserve pre-made covers without payment.
Will my purchased cover be stored if I’m not ready to finalize?
Yes. Once purchased, your pre-made cover is securely stored until you're ready to move forward. If you anticipate a longer delay, just let me know — I’m happy to hold it as long as timelines remain clear and communication is maintained.
Can I request changes to a pre-made cover?
Yes — minor modifications are possible. Please reach out before purchasing to confirm I can accommodate your request. You can also review my adjustment policy here.
Do you offer refunds for pre-made covers?
All pre-made cover sales are final. Due to the nature of pre-designed artwork, refunds are not available
Do you use AI in your design work?
No, I do not create AI artwork. All items use licensed stock images and traditional design techniques. If you’d like to include an AI-generated image, please contact me to see if I can accommodate your request. You can read my AI policy here.
What’s your custom cover process?
Each project begins with your questionnaire, submitted during booking. Once received, I review your details and confirm scheduling. From there, I develop a concept aligned with your genre, tone, and goals. Most covers go through up to three rounds of refinements before final files are delivered. You can view my full process here.
How far in advance should I book my project?
I recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks ahead, especially for custom work or time-sensitive launches. My calendar fills quickly, and I’m rarely able to accommodate rush requests. If you’re planning a release, please reach out early to secure your spot.
Are there any restrictions on the types of projects you accept?
Yes. I do not accept work that involves hate speech, graphic violence, or themes that conflict with my ethical boundaries. Please feel free to reach out to discuss your project before booking if you have any questions about this.
How is communication handled throughout the design process?
Email is the only channel I use for project communication. I typically respond within 2–3 business days. If I don’t receive a timely reply, I’m unable to move forward with your project — and I’m not responsible for delays caused by missed or disregarded messages. Clear, timely communication is essential to maintaining momentum and honoring your timeline.
Who holds the copyright for my cover design?
For both pre-made and custom covers, copyright remains with the designer. You’re granted usage rights for your book and related marketing, but the design may not be resold, altered, or reused outside the agreed scope.
Can I modify the final files after delivery?
No. For both custom and pre-made covers, Covers in Color holds the legal rights to modify licensed images. Altering the final design would breach most licensing agreements and violate the terms of use. If you need adjustments, I’m happy to provide them when possible.
Can you send me the Photoshop files?
Native PSD files aren’t included due to licensing restrictions and to protect my intellectual property. In rare cases, a flattened PSD may be available for formatting purposes, starting at $350. Most edits can be handled directly for free or a small fee.
How should I credit you?
I always appreciate credit when it’s possible. A simple “Cover design by Covers in Color Design Studio” in your acknowledgments, product listings, or promo posts helps support my work and independent design. 🩷
